3D Printing 3D打印
Think the idea of clicking a button to “print out” a meal is the stuff of science fiction? Perhaps not. Three-dimensional printing technology is closer to becoming as aspect of everyday life, experts say. The technology to build a solid object based on a designer's computerized instructions was invented in the 1980s when Charles Hull used computer equipment to produce models made of synthetic resins. He called the process "stereolithography." In theory, 3D printing can be used to build a plane, car or even a human organ. Some experts say 3D printers will even be making home-cooked meals by 2020. More prosaically, experts say 3D printing will have a revolutionary effect on manufacturing. (By Caixin reporter Han Wei)
